Mindful Summer Solstice

Welcome to our Mindful Summer Solstice Ceremony!

Join us on Thursday 21 June 2024 at 20:30 BST for a virtual gathering to celebrate the longest day of the year.

In summary his event is all about connecting with our true selves, setting intentions, and embracing the energy of the summer solstice. Prepare to relax, meditate, and reflect on the beauty of the season. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or new to mindfulness, this ceremony is open to all. Let’s come together to honour the sun and welcome the abundance of summer! See you there!

In 2024 the summer solstice will occur on Thursday 20 June at 21.51 BST (20.51 GMT) so we will be together at the exact moment of the solstice!

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year when the light is at the very peak of its power. Why not use this energy to make the changes necessary to allow for the new growth that wants to live through you. The summer solstice holds the energy for fulfilling your potential, which requires a renewed commitment to yourself.

It is interesting to reflect for a moment on the solstice. The summer solstice marks the moment in time when the sun’s path is at its longest northernmost ascent in the sky. Midsummer (as this season is known) is a time to celebrate light, to give thanks for the clarity and insights that may come to us in this ‘shining’ moment. It’s a time to honour inner power and brightness, and to also just laze about for a bit and daydream, an essential activity that helps us grow and deepen.

People from cultures all over the world have held summer solstice celebrations in celebration of the light of the sun for thousands of years. Summer Solstice is one of the four solar festivals that fall within the Wheel of the Year

The solstice marks the astronomical beginning of summer on the Gregorian calendar, and after a long winter, there’s nothing better to celebrate!

Traditionally, people gather with family and friends to celebrate the return of light, sunlight, life, fertility, and the potential for a good harvest at midsummer. Today, people worldwide still celebrate summer’s arrival with outdoor feasts and festivities, including singing, dancing, musical performances or concerts, bonfires, and enjoying delicious food and drinks.

We may not be doing all these things in our virtual session, but it is really good to mark important points in our year, reflect on where we are now at this year’s midpoint, and re-commit to our goals and values. We will be asking the key self-compassion question: ‘What do I need right now?’

Come and join us for time to connect, reflect, and meditate. We will also be evoking and thanking the helping spirits! You are invited to leave behind your ordinary thoughts and concerns and fully join in, not just observe.

This Zoom gathering includes a short talk and reflection on the natural and cultural significance of this time, a guided meditation, and time to reflect and share. How is your year unfolding? Are there plans or dreams that are coming to fruition, or that you’re leaning into? In what areas of your life would you like to shine more light? If you wish, bring something that ‘enlightens’ you—a candle, a flower, some honey, a piece of jewellery, a piece of sunstone or citrine—whatever resonates with you as a symbol of abundance, hope, and radiance.

Also, please bring a pen and paper or journal with you so you can write your own reflections.

When you purchase a ticket, please text me at 07981 623 566 and I will add you to the special ‘whats app’ group (created just for this particular event) so you can receive the confirmed zoom code and information on how to prepare for the ceremony.

Thank you. I look forward to seeing you!
