Christmas peace mindful self-compassion workshop

The theme this session is Christmas peace. And as its Christmas there will be chocolate meditation – please supply your own chocolate (or alternative edible) and a candle 🙂 – Thank you x

Mindful self-compassion is the foundation of emotional healing—being aware in the present moment when we’re struggling with feelings of inadequacy, despair, confusion, and other forms of stress (mindfulness) and responding with kindness and understanding (self-compassion). Mindful self-compassion also means holding difficult emotions—fear, anger, sadness, shame and self-doubt—and ourselves, in loving awareness, leading to greater ease and well-being in our daily lives.

Mindful self-compassion can be learned by anyone. It’s the practice of repeatedly evoking good will toward ourselves especially when we’re suffering—cultivating the same desire that all living beings have to live happily and free from suffering. And as the Dalai Lama says, self-compassion is the first step toward compassion for others.

The workshop is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. It fun, practical and experiential. I’ve been running this workshop for five years and people regularly re-attend. 🙂

Sometimes it will be possible to transfer your ticket – subject to availability. Workshops in Winter months tend to sell out so transfer is limited, summer workshops usually have more availability.

It is possible to buy a ticket as a gift, the person just needs to give the name the ticket was booked under when they check in with me on the day.

Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one and a blanket to stay cosy during deep relaxation.

Thank you, I look forward to seeing you.

Charity Christmas mindfulness class in aid of Mindwise

A yearly tradition – my last evening mindfulness class of the year before Christmas is for charity. Normally held in Namaste Yoga Centre on the Ormeau Road after a Chinese in Macau now for 2020 it’s via zoom

This year the Charity is ‘Mindwise‘. Our vision is a world where people affected by mental health issues receive the support they need to lead a fulfilling life through recovery and discovery.

Mindwise provide mental health training to employers to create mentally healthy workplaces across Northern Ireland. They also provide quality services, including housing, community support and day services, criminal justice services, working with young people leaving custody, early intervention support for families and children, as well as support for carers and families.

This past year I have been providing some mindfulness classes for Mindwise service users too.

Last year in the Charity Meditation class we raisedÂŁ290 for Headway, ÂŁ236 for Action Cancer in 2018, in 2017 ÂŁ294 for Hospice UK and in 2016 we raised ÂŁ240 for Syria Relief.

It’s going to be very different this year but I hope we can still make a decent amount for this online class!

The class is a ‘Christmas special’ with some mindful chocolate eating!  You will need to provide you own chocolate or fruit for the meditation. Also a candle 🙂

Christmas jumpers are welcomed to add to the spirit 🙂 Though of course we’ll really only see you head n shoulders on zoom – but why not! It’s Christmas x x x

Everyone is welcome, please mark it in your diary.

Suggested donation is ÂŁ10. Thank you.

Even though the class is for charity – eventbrite still take a fee – its how the system works, i’m sorry about this. If you donate to Mindwise directly you can send me the receipt and I will send you the class code. Thank you.
