Saturday January Mindful Self-Compassion Workshop

The theme this session is New Year, New Me.

 Mindful self-compassion is the foundation of emotional healing—being aware in the present moment when we’re struggling with feelings of inadequacy, despair, confusion, and other forms of stress (mindfulness) and responding with kindness and understanding (self-compassion). Mindful self-compassion also means holding difficult emotions—fear, anger, sadness, shame and self-doubt—and ourselves, in loving awareness, leading to greater ease and well-being in our daily lives.

Mindful self-compassion can be learned by anyone. It’s the practice of repeatedly evoking good will toward ourselves especially when we’re suffering—cultivating the same desire that all living beings have to live happily and free from suffering. And as the Dalai Lama says, self-compassion is the first step toward compassion for others.

The workshop is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. It fun, practical and experiential. I’ve been running this workshop for five years and people regularly re-attend. 🙂

Sometimes it will be possible to transfer your ticket – subject to availability. Workshops in Winter months tend to sell out so transfer is limited, summer workshops usually have more availability.

It is possible to buy a ticket as a gift, the person just needs to give the name the ticket was booked under when they check in with me on the day.

8-week Mindfulness for life (MBSR & MBCT)

This course uses a combination of mindfulness meditation, body awareness, mindful movement and researched wellbeing tools and techniques to help you become happier, more mindful and less stressed.

In recent years this course has been the subject of controlled clinical research which has found beneficial effects, including stress reduction, relaxation, and improvements to quality of life. You will learn how your body handles (and can resolve) stress neurologically.

This substantial program is shown to improve emotional wellbeing and be an effective treatment for anxiety or low-mood difficulties. It can also be helpful for those looking for an ‘edge’ in their work or creative performance. It is not only about elevation of low-mood it’s actually life enhancing practice for everyone that increases confidence, focus and happiness.

Mindfulness helps us to open to life rather than struggle against it, respond to challenges rather than react, show compassion towards ourselves rather than judgement and appreciation rather than negativity – allowing us to feel more connected, open, and more deeply alive.

I am delighted to be offering this MBCT for life course as it has been updated via the latest research and best practice via the Oxford Mindfulness Centre.

This is a certified course with 27 hours CPD. It is also a prerequisite for any mindfulness teacher training you are interested in, including mindfulness for children.

N.B –  as well as the 8 weekly 2.5 hour sessions this programme also includes an all-day online retreat on Saturday 20 January. If the Covid-19 situation changes A LOT for the better an alternative in-person retreat will also be offered. I will offer both so you will have the option of joining the online or in person, in person is better but in the current circumstances its online only. The online retreat is included in your fee – a supplement to cover food etc will be required for the in person retreat if it goes ahead.

The course also includes a comprehensive, supportive 125 page file and audio tracks for home practice. These will be emailed to you. Familiarity with email is necessary I will send you an email every week recapping what we covered in each class.

Bridgeen has taught MBSR since 2011 and taught online classes every day (twice a day) via zoom from 23 March to the 26 June to support everyone though the the first stage of the pandemic so I am very experienced and capable of running these online classes. However this will be the first time I have taught MBSR online I did also successful teach the 8-week MSC course online through April-June 2020.

I will have an electronic record of everyone who has bought a ticket and will welcome you to the online class on arrival. You are required to have video and audio to fully participate in the class. I also need to see you to know you are a real person and not a ‘zoom bomber’, you can of course switch off the video or point it away from you during the meditations.

You can use Zoom from a web browser or from the zoom app which you can find on the iPad, iPhone or Android app stores. I do not provide technical support for Zoom (there are lots of helpful videos on Google) so please ensure you are familiar with it before signing up, thank you 🙂
