The Blooming of a Lotus – a Buddhist meditation course

My first ever Buddhist meditation course.

This will be a journey of 40 one hour meditations offered over 7 weeks. It is only for experienced practitioners. Especially those who have studied with me in the past either recently in lockdown or over the years on at 8 or 6 week course.

All the meditations on the course are from Thich Nhat Hanh’s book ‘The Blooming of a Lotus – meditations for achieving the miracle of mindfulness.’

As endorsed by Jon Kabat-Zinn: “Any one of these meditations, if practiced with sincerity and whole-heartedness, can make the richness of the present moment apparent and bring you closer to yourself.”

Please contact me for more detailed information and the specific schedule (most of the meditations sessions will be in the mornings at different times).

£20 of your fee will be sent to Plum Village as ‘dana’ to support the monastics.

If you are currently in financial difficulties and really want to do the course (and are an old student) please contact me to discuss options. Payment by installment is possible as is payment outside of eventbrite.

I am really looking forward to going on this journey with you.

20 July - 10 September

July Mindful Self-Compassion Workshop

The theme this month is

Mindful self-compassion is the foundation of emotional healing—being aware in the present moment when we’re struggling with feelings of inadequacy, despair, confusion, and other forms of stress (mindfulness) and responding with kindness and understanding (self-compassion). Mindful self-compassion also means holding difficult emotions—fear, anger, sadness, shame and self-doubt—and ourselves, in loving awareness, leading to greater ease and well-being in our daily lives.

Mindful self-compassion can be learned by anyone. It’s the practice of repeatedly evoking good will toward ourselves especially when we’re suffering—cultivating the same desire that all living beings have to live happily and free from suffering. And as the Dalai Lama says, self-compassion is the first step toward compassion for others.

The workshop is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. It fun, practical and experiential. I’ve been running this workshop for five years and people regularly re-attend. 🙂

Sometimes it will be possible to transfer your ticket – subject to availability. Workshops in Winter months tend to sell out so transfer is limited, summer workshops usually have more availability.

It is possible to buy a ticket as a gift, the person just needs to give the name the ticket was booked under when they check in with me on the day.

Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one and a blanket to stay cosy during deep relaxation.

Thank you, I look forward to seeing you.

Yoga Retreat in Ballycastle

A heart opening, energising yoga weekend to nourish mind and body.

This is a joint retreat between Mindfulness Teacher, Bridgeen from Immeasurable Minds and Davide, Yoga Teacher at the Marine Hotel Ballycastle. We previously offered this at the end of January and it was big success.

Step on the mat, breathe, and rediscover your flow. This yoga weekend will suit every need and lifestyle, it offers an opportunity for meditation, physical exercise plus relaxation and set in a location with calming natural surroundings.

Yoga is an ancient practice that brings together mind and body. It incorporates breathing exercises, meditation and poses designed to encourage relaxation and reduce stress.

Please note this event is organised by the Marine Hotel not Immeasurable Minds

online 6-week mindfulness experience class

A personal and friendly introduction to mindfulness practice. Suitable for new and experienced practitioners.

You will learn:

  • how to practice mindfulness,
  • how to sit in meditation,
  • tips to practice in daily life,
  • how to do walking meditation,
  • mindful movement,
  • gratitude practice,
  • loving kindness practice,
  • mindfulness singing,
  • inspirational stories

Most importantly you’ll receive just over an hour of peace and tranquility in a virtual group of other local, like-minded people. You will be surprised how lovely and easy it is to connect and build a community online in this way, and for this reason numbers are limited. This will be the third weekly programme I’ve run like this. The other online courses have been a wonderful success.

In previous times this class would happen in the Namaste Centre on the Ormeau Road, where I’ve been teaching it for over 10 years, now it’s online via zoom.

Especially at this exceptional time for the whole world we will focus on practices to calm our nervous system and work with fear and anxiety. Also sending compassion to those struggling – including ourselves.

Suitable for all: from beginners to experienced practitioners with a beginners mind.

Come join us for an experience of peace in the midst of your week.

You can buy the course as a gift for someone – just ask them to give your name on the first night.

I have lots of free material that you can access via my social media pages.

YES you can save the Eventbrite fee – you can pay via PayPal and bank transfer – just email me on mindfulmind@outlook.com for details. Once payment has been received I will send you the joining instructions.

Thank you.

When you buy a ticket you will be sent a confirmation email with all the details you need to join the class at the appointed time. Please scroll down the email – the zoom link will be there 🙂

I taught online classes every day (twice a day) via zoom from 23 March to the 26 June to support everyone though the the first stage of the pandemic so I am very experienced and capable of running these online classes.

I will have an electronic record of everyone who has bought a ticket and will welcome you to the online class on arrival. You are required to have video and audio to fully participate in the class. I also need to see you to know you are a real person and not a ‘zoom bomber’, you can of course switch off the video or point it away from you during the meditations.

You can use Zoom from a web browser or from the zoom app which you can find on the iPad, iPhone or Android app stores. I do not provide technical support for Zoom (there are lots of helpful videos on Google) so please ensure you are familiar with it before signing up, thank you 🙂
