Drop-in mindfulness class

I’ve been teaching this popular mindfulness class since 2008 when I first started offering it in Namaste Yoga Center on the Ormeau Road Belfast. Through the first lockdown March 2020 it has evolved to an online offering and as the pandemic effects spread into 2021 the class continues online…

Now more than ever the class has become like a ‘sangha’ – a community meeting to share harmony and awareness. Each class begins with a ‘check-in’ and sharing about our lives and in particular how we are practising mindfulness in the real world with all its challenges.

Some nights there may be a lot of people so lots of sharing and less time to meditate. There will always be at least one meditation. With drop-in there could also be small groups and more time to meditate, each week it will be different.

The class attracts people from all over with all levels of experience in meditation. Everyone is welcome – though it is helpful if you have meditated at least once before. You don’t have to share anything personal – just your name and your interest or experience of the practice of mindfulness and meditation.

Thank you for your support and participation.

Classes cannot be rolled over if you miss it. They are subject to cancellation (you will receive a full refund in that case.)

May Mindful Self-Compassion Workshop

The theme this month is perfecting our love.

Mindful self-compassion is the foundation of emotional healing—being aware in the present moment when we’re struggling with feelings of inadequacy, despair, confusion, and other forms of stress (mindfulness) and responding with kindness and understanding (self-compassion). Mindful self-compassion also means holding difficult emotions—fear, anger, sadness, shame and self-doubt—and ourselves, in loving awareness, leading to greater ease and well-being in our daily lives.

Mindful self-compassion can be learned by anyone. It’s the practice of repeatedly evoking good will toward ourselves especially when we’re suffering—cultivating the same desire that all living beings have to live happily and free from suffering. And as the Dalai Lama says, self-compassion is the first step toward compassion for others.

The workshop is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. It fun, practical and experiential. I’ve been running this workshop for five years and people regularly re-attend. 🙂

Sometimes it will be possible to transfer your ticket – subject to availability. Workshops in Winter months tend to sell out so transfer is limited, summer workshops usually have more availability.

It is possible to buy a ticket as a gift, the person just needs to give the name the ticket was booked under when they check in with me on the day.

Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one and a blanket to stay cosy during deep relaxation.

Thank you, I look forward to seeing you.

March Mindful Self-Compassion Workshop

The theme this month is learning making friends with the present moment. ‘Every day may not be a good day but there is good in every day’ with our practices of mindfulness and self-compassion we can learn to befriend even difficult situations with kindness.
